Teacher Posting
There is a posted opening for a 1:6:1 Special Education teacher at the Hewes Center, Erie 2 CC BOCES, Ashville, New York this school year Preferable qualifications for potential candidates are Special Education Teachers with content area certification in reading, math, science, ELA, Social Studies. Two weeks into school. I posted the the teacher opening on the blog and the Friday before Labor day I found the ideal candidate for the 1:6:1 special education classroom made up of sixth graders. The class was full before opening day. All boys and the the classroom aides are the same as last year. The new teacher should work out well especially since she has experience in this field, appears enthusiastic and energetic. She brings to the table the much sought after reading degree. We definately recognize the need for this service delivery if we at the Hewes Center are going to up our ELA scores and improve profieciency at the Regents level in English and Social Studies. It is my hope that we can begin a sustained reading program for middle schoolers and high school 9th and 10th graders.

Michelle B. and I really hope that you found a great candidate for your vacant teacher position. It is important that we have teachers that have the ability to relate well with our students and with their peers.

Good job Chris. With regard to the teacher posting. We got our candidate. A reading teacher who is working toward her national teacher license this is in addition to what she carries from NY state. To my knowledge there is only one other teacher with this credential in Chautauqua County and this teacher is at Cassadaga!. What do you think – was the opening at Hewes related to the blog entry?
Michelle and Chris: I think we foud a great teacher in Jaime M. She appears to relate well to her assignment, students and fellow staff. Her teaching peers do not think she is to shabby either! She teaches middle school 6th grade, all boys. In addition, she is providing support to the High School English program in her capacity of reading teacher.
