The stress of starting school, Fall 2008
Of the 4 candidates selected for teaching positions, only 2 have actually signed on. Of these 2 only 1 will be a classroom teacher, the other one was noted to have superior skills in the area of behavioral management therefore will be assigned as a behavior management teacher. I am therefore looking for 2 classroom teachers and have set up interviews all day for teachers aides and teachers. School starts in 5 days.
What will happen to our plans for blog roll out? Will we secure teachers who are tech savvy and able to reach the digital student? What pool of candidates is left out there?
Some classrooms are ready for students because teachers have come in and set up their rooms. Other classrooms look like Hurricane Suzy went through them. Boxes all over the place. Yesterday, I informed the custodians that the big furniture pieces have to be placed because teachers and staff will not be able to lift them on the first day they report to work. The custodians were resistent to follow my direction because they do not want to be in a situation in which they will be forced to move furniture twice. If teachers move the furniture again next week, the waxed floors will be ruined………………
The office structure is being reconfigured …………….work space between myself and the secretary will be in flux so as to provide more accurate training and accounting measures for IEP delivery of services, as well as other accounting measures for requisitions and general purchases.
The attending issues outlined above cannot be underscored because they speak to the heart and soul of education and the teaching profession.
As of 3:30 pm today, I see no relief in sight…………….
