Introduction: The case of teenage pregnancies, allegedly as a result of a pact made by high school female students in Gloucester, MA.
How do our students show they have personal integrity?
- shaking hands – confidence and self- awareness
- addressing adults in an appropriate manner – Mr. Ms., Mrs., Sir, Ma’am
- saying please and thank you – being generally polite
- admitting mistakes – correcting problems,saying I’m sorry
- accepting and fulfilling tasks and responsibilities
- setting goals and following through on them to the best of their ability
- taking risks by weighing consequences for themselves and others
- making individual choices
- delaying gratification
- winning and loosing with equal grace
How do our students learn work place literacy?
They should graduate knowing
- Basic financial realities and budgeting
- how to balance a check book
- how interest and credit work
- what to wear and how to conduct themselves in an interview
- how to write a proper and effective letter and email
- what general area of studey or employment they want to head toward
- the fundamentals of how money works in our economy and government
- how our democracy and politics of participation affect all our lives * my addition

- What does this mean and who is affected by this statement?
- what do we need to do to move forward – school culture, accepting new staff members, spreading a positive message, building each other, reaching out, understanding the connection between our actions and our quality work

- Volunteerism – involvement in community and businesses’
- job shadowing
- ranking of students for graduation? ref: college funding at Jamestown Business College/Jamestown Community College
- instill in 9th grade cohort notion of class ranking
- Vocational testing and interest inventory scales
- Cornell University Reading Program and Read Across America Project for 2008-2009
- Adoption of Web 2.0 technologies.
- 4-H club participation and parent involvement
Every Classroom has 3 things

- high expectations
- diverse approaches to learning and fidelity to strength in overall programming
